 | | T.I. |
T.I. Recording Artist Atlantic Atlanta GA
What expectations do you have at Atlantic that you didn't have at Arista? Just that they'll be sincerely behind the music and behind the company.
If music is universal, then why is hip hop regional? Because it's based on how people live and people live a certain way in different places.
What can I expect when I hear your album? Some hot shit!
Is hip hop a lifestyle or culture? Both.
If you could be a cartoon character, what would your name be and what characteristics would you have? I wouldn't be one.

EST | | While I do agree that T.I could have been more tactful in his responses, I can't agree with those who say his career will be short-lived. His "industry" career maybe, but his ablility to make music for his target consumer, not hardly. Niggas love, I mean LOVE THAT NIGGA that guy down here (myself included). He has such a strong fanbase that no matter what he does he'll be able to eat and make a living from his music down south. Plus he's nice on the mic. Sure, he spits about redundant topics, but he's still nice on the mic. You can come down anywhere in the south and you'll be guaranteed to hear at least 3 songs with that man's voice on them outside of the Bonecrusher record. T.I. will be fine, he just a young arrogant nigga being arrogant that's all. Tech.Nitions Cool-Out Conference (6/19-6/22). |

Outkast, Goodie Mob, UGK, Scarface all of them been way before him and they actually got some shit to stand on. This dude is skinnier than a ethiopian just without the belly and talkin this gangsta shit. Not that size matters but I can't take his shit for real. He is more a wanna be. some of his music is ok. But his arrogance is going to put him on his ass |

EST | | You industry type cats amuse me. Shoutin out the names of A&R's and what not. Impressive. Don't you all realize that it's not about what producer did what beat in the south, or who's working the record, or getting broke off to spin it. It's about how dope the MUSIC is. The Bonecrusher record is a good example of how southern records are planted and nutured in the south. That shit was by a nigga who was famous for doing hooks and produced by a no name nigga(Avery Johnson) and look at it now. David Banner, Three 6 Mafia, and Lil Flip's successes are other good examples. T.I. is a dope MC who makes good music. Period. He makes good records. Southern rap records. Good southern rap records. Muisc consumers in the south are extremely loyal to artists they dig. And we sho nuff dig T.I. in the south. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm not here to bash anyone for expressing theirs. It's just that I'm a T.I. fan, and I'll assume that me being a southerner, I can appreciate T.I. on a different scope than some of you good people. With that, I'll leave you all with a T.I. qoute from a verse to his song "Grand Royal" from the "I'm Serious" LP. " King of da south....if the legends of the south ain't complainin, like Outkast & Goodie Mob what the hell or the fuck do I care what you sayin?" - T.I. EST | | Bottom line is, some will like him and some wont. If you dont like him, then hit that arrow at the top of the page that says "Back" and get the hell off the page. If all you have to say is something negative all that means is you arent up on your game, and you mad cause this man is gettin his, and you wish you could be doing what he's doing. Dont hate, step you your game! Everyone isnt going to like kind of music that comes out, thats why there are so many varieties. No everyone likes East Coast music (although that may be hard for some of you to comprehend). There is something for everyone, so dont dis down south til you know whats goin on down here. Funny thing is, we know all about East Coast shit and West Coast shit, but as I quote Goodie Mob, I believe it was, "What you really know about the dirty south?". |

EST | | Did you know that Kawan "KP" Prather (Sony Music A&R) was one third of an Atlanta based group called P.A. (Parental Advisory)? They had a really dope album entitled "My Life Yo Entertainment". It was on Dreamworks. On that album, there was this dope ass song called "Down Flat" that featured this young and upcoming cat named T.I. Wow! Isn't amazing how much FANS of music know? Especially about artists they really like? LOL. Wally Sparks real name no gimmicks..... Tech.Nitions Cool-Out Conference. (6/19-6/22) |

EST | | Well, I will just say this. Your are right music is suppose to entertain. But at the same time music is an art, but right now there is a lot of garbage and the quality is gone. There used to be a time where you had to learn the music. Now you can buy a MPC and make a beat and put it out. No one gives a fuck. T.I. has some good stuff and he has some wack shit. But that is with every artist. He does what is good for him and what works. Yes T.I. has a strong buzz in the South if not he may be the hottest right now. But he put in work. And plus we all now that a lot of records are regional, T.I. may just gets love in the South, Styles may just gets love up North, etc... Labels work records that way. And yes I know P.A. and at the same time I remember Dreamworks telling me that they are not going to do alot with P.A. because their music is just regional. P.A. is not around anymore and they didn't sell a lot of records and I like P.A. (Dope Stories, U Got We Got, Sundown, Problems, etc..) But as long we do music, people will love and people will hate, comes with the territory but you can't hate on their hustle if it works for them. I know a few people that don't care for T.I. but would break their neck to do a record with because of his following in the South |

EST | | I hear these cats riffing back and forth like it really matters if dude calls his self the king or not. If you rap i hope you think you're the best or one of them, it comes with this genre of music. As for TIP I have been blessed to meet that cat and he's cool and I have songs with Bun, Bonecrusher, Kurupt, Yukmouth, Jazze, Swizz and numerous other cats coming out the south. We are at a fork in the road where Southern music is reiventing itself kinda like NY, when they moved from Das EFX and Boot Camp and Wu to Jay-Z, Nas, and Biggie. TI represents the Nas in the equation. He is putting GA on the map again with gansta/enlightment/club music in one album, it's hard to hate on that kind of marketing. He has a nice look, distinctive voice, and beats that are banging give the man some respect. Not saying he's the king, but he did do his thing in putting the heat behind the Atlanta scene. Bonecrusher wouldn't have had half of the success with Neva Scared if TI wasn't on that track so I got alot of love for dude in that respect. I neva saw TIP as a super gansta or anything like that, he's like 5'4" or something the presence in the flesh is not there but his music is huge. Keep up the good work! That crown is mine young nigga!!! |
