Monica
Recording Artist
J Records
Atlanta GA

How has music changed your outlook on life?
My outlook on life actually changed my music. My life experiences are a part of my music now.

With your J Records debut, what are your expectations for this project?
I try not to expect things. I like to work for and earn things. I hope to earn the real respect and love of my fans as an adult because they knew me last as a child.

If you had an open forum to say anything you wanted, what would you say?
I would say how important it is to love and believe in yourself and to know that opinions are like rear-ends, they usually are all stank.

Who is your favorite cartoon character?
My favorite cartoon character was Popeye cause he never let Olive Oyl down.

If you were a rapper, what would be your name and hip hop style?
My name would be the one J.D. (Jermaine Dupri) gave me, 'Too Hood' and my style would be raw and uncut hip hop.

I don't know if I am reading too much into Monica's interviews or not. Monica comes off to me as "ghetto, arrogant and non-appreciative". She comes off to me like she could care less what we "her fans" think about her. I know you have to live for yourself, but, she is a public figure. I have read about 2 or 3 articles/interviews featuring Monica and I have not been impressed. As Monica stated in your interview, we all have opinions and I will keep my money with my "STANK" opinion!

I never got the impression you did Amy. I can't even recall that many interviews with her in the first place. VIBE did that story on her a couple issues ago and I didn't get the "arrogant, non-appreciative" vibe from her.

Bottom line is that she makes good music (haven't listened to the new one yet) and can sing her ass off, in the end that's I really care about.

I mean, I still play R. Kelly's joints, so my opinion may not count!

by the way, anyone hear that new R Kelly track? I hear it's pretty good.

monica was cool as hell when i met her at the listening party. she took the time out to talk with me as we where leaving the hotel for a couple of minutes. I didn't push to talk to her she started talking first and she came off as a real down to earth person. I personally like her alot . I' plan to support her to the best of my abilities...

Amy you could not be more wrong! Monica is very appreciative of her fans and anyone that buys her music. As far as the "Stank" remark, Monica is stating the importance of self-love and not buying into gossip, tabloids, or anyone's opinion of her!

Monica is "Too Hood" and that's her business. We as consumers have to realize that celebrities are real people with real issues, just like us.
Just like JtothaI I appreciate artist for what they produce, "Good Music" and I'm not ashamed to say I'm digging RKelly's new shit, too!

I feel that erica! We must all remember that every celebrity that we exhault to their current status was once a regular Joe that no one knew...

Their career is just that: a career! It's not about who they are! How would we feel if everyday we went to work and everyone wanted to pry into our personal lives... but that is just my stank opinion!!!
