LaToiya Williams Recording Artist Doggy Style All Stars Los Angeles CA
Does your church background conflict with Snoop's "street" life history? No it doesn't. My church loves me, the people in my church love me. Ever since I was singing with Gladys Knight, the congregation urged me to keep God first and keep my head up. The people in my church love Snoop Dogg. We [the All Stars] did the Jay Leno show the other night and the next day my deacon greeted me with Snoop's line from the show. My church is my family and they are proud. They get every CD I'm on. When I'm not working I'm in the church. In fact, I'm going to Bible Study after this interview!
What separates you from other female R&B vocalists? I'm a really soulful singer. I keep all the soul and love from my church in me when I sing. I don't sound like the pack. My soul puts me in a different era. Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick...I keep them and their faith in me when I sing. I have legends telling me I'm gonna be somebody, that's what separates me.
What do you expect in the next five years now that you are in the spotlight? I see myself as one of the best singers in the R&B industry. I see myself stronger in the word of God...giving to the kids. I see myself focused on keeping my faith. Without my faith I have no future. He is my future.
Who would win a fight between the 70s Foxy Brown and the millennium's Foxxy Cleopatra? The Millenium Foxy Cleopatra
If you could throw a rock through anyone's window, whose window would you choose and why? Oh my goodness. Oh man. Now that's a hot seat there! I don't have any enemies or anyone I look down upon. I am happy to say no one. God Bless everybody!
