Lamman Rucker

Lamman Rucker
Actor
"As The World Turns"
NYC

If given an ultimatum between acting on Broadway or the Soaps, which would you choose and why?
I'd chose acting on Soaps because starting there establishes you and your face on screen and allows you to be recognized by a national audience. Once you've done that, Broadway will be more inclined to feature you since you'll sell more tickets and provide more publicity.

What barriers do you face daily being a soap opera actor?
People taking you seriously when you say things-they think you are always "acting." It's tough for people to believe you're sincere.
Everyone thinks you're rich.
People stopping you on the street and fuss at you for the bad actions of your TV character-it's tough for some people to separate the two.

How does your job compare to a sports player's job?
The long hours! Showtime/airtime on screen is very short, but the public doesn't see the great amount of time that is necessary to "prepare" (i.e. memorizing lines, rehearsals).
You have to be in good physical shape!!
You are part of a team. You have an individual "role" to play but it is not more important or separate from the larger team (producers, writers, other actors, technicians, designers, fans/viewers, etc) who all work together to produce a winning, successful show!

Who are better, today's soul singers or those from the 70s?
The 70s for sure! Everything today stands on the foundation of the 70s artists. Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and others are still my favorites, although several of today's artists are extremely talented.

Who is the better duck, Daffy or Donald?
Daffy is black, so I gotta go with him. Even with a speech impediment, he's still holdin' it down!

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see a beautiful black man doing his thing on TV. I have been a long time follower of "As The World Turns". His character is so poised and confident on the show. I will definately check out a dating story. I must say she's one lucky girl! Keep up the good work Lamman.
Sincerely,
A new fan

Wow! I was never into "As the World Turns", I used to watch "All my Children" instead, but my sister-in-law put me on to "As the World Turns" and I got a chance to see Lamman in action and I think he's very good! Not to mention, very attractive! :)
I wish Lamman lots of success and I would like to see more of Lamman in the future!
From a new fan! :)

It is good to see you doing well. You may not remember me from your Pitt days, but it is good to see you go from the fashion show to TV. Keep up the good work. I'm usually not home during the day, but I will certainly try to check you out as soon as I get a chance.
Peace & Luv

Yo! It's very refreshing to see a fresh new face on screen. As a brother myself, I'm not too ashamed to admit that I've peeped this cat on the show before and HE'S GOT SKILLS!!! We might be looking at the next big black star in Hollywood in this dude! He's the man!

Look here... I'm an attorney from D.C. and although this guy's character on "As The World Turns" is supposed to be a little shady, he is truly representing young, black professionals very well. He's articulate, sharp and focused: a reflection of what many & most young professionals should be. All of America should be looking forward to this man's career blossoming because he's a testament to what this country is about. I'm already successful (and I'm not Black) but he's still an inspiration even to me.

Lamman, I am so proud of you and all that you've accomplished over the past few years that I've known you. Nothing but great things can come for someone who has been such a wonderful friend, shoulder and emotional bodyguard. You've been my model of what perseverance, confidence and spirit can bring. Denzel, watch out!

Lamman, I just wanted to let you know that I am *thoroughly* enjoying your scenes with Scott Holroyd on ATWT, and while I *always* root for Paul to come out on top (he's my favorite male character on the show; Marshall just makes me want to spit nails), I think you're a great addition to the best cast on daytime and I hope that you have a long career ahead of you. I look forward to meeting you at either the St. Jude Benefit in October or the ATWTFC luncheon in April!
