Albums that I never get tired of: Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, Embrya's Unplugged, Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, Best of Sade, Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt, Jill Scott's Sights and Sounds Volume One, The Roots's Things Fall Apart, Common's Like Water For Chocolate, What's the 411? or anything by Mary J. Blige esp. the remix of "7 Days" on the Live on Tour CD!, Gang Starr's Full Clip: Design of a Decade, Erykah Badu's Baduizm and Mama's Gun, Mos Def's Black On Both Sides, Slum Village's Fantastic Volume 2, Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek's Reflection Eternal, Biggie's Ready to Die, D'Angelo's Brown Sugar and Voodoo, Amel Larrieux's Infinite Possibilities, Alicia Keys' Songs In A Minor, Sweetback, Bob Marley's Legend, India Arie's Acoustic Soul, Angie Stone's Black Diamond, anything by A Tribe Called Quest. I'm sure there are more that I forgot but this is a good start.
Sign: Libra-forever the diplomat and hopeless romantic.
Color: Black, classy and timeless.
Men: Sexy (Maxwell, Lenny, Little X, Benny Boom, Treach), it really varies. But as a rule I like thugged-out or artsy. The regular ones just don't move me these days. Turn-ons: Neck tattoos, do rags, arrogance (hate to admit it), successful and intelligent convo.
Turn offs: Long finger nails, gold jewelry, stupidity, yuck!
Random Favorites: Rain, cloudy weather (so rare in LA), orchids and most fresh flowers/plants, long conversations with people that actually have something important to say, green tea, meditation, being in the right place at the right time, and I like J-Lo (so sue me!)
Television: "Sex and the City" (of course) and "Girlfriends" are the only shows I make sure I'm home to see nowadays. I still love classic "Real World" episodes esp. from the 1st season in NY! and "Behind the Music" cause I am curious.
Hobbies: The Poetry Lounge at the Green Court Theatre in LA on Tuesday nights. It's so inspiring to see young people come together to speak their mind and the best part is, it's free!! It's a must see for anyone looking for an alternative to the mundane "industry" life that consumes most of us in LA. Also going to showcases and seeing the new talent that is about to make a splash before their heads get too big. Hooking people up with other people for business of pleasure ;), dinner with my girlfriends, good conversation and looking for love in all the wrong places!
Books: Kashif's Everything You'd Better Know About the Music Industry, Iylana Vanzant's In the Meantime, Shambala Books' Buddhism Plain and Simple, any poetry by Saul Williams.
Magazines: Oneworld, Vibe, The Source, XXL, In Style, US Weekly (it is addictive), Marie Clair, The Network!!!
Websites: thecrusade.net, okayplayer.com, tastemakers.com, thenetworkmag.com, lyricistlounge.com, dictionary.com (for when I'm writing)
Those whom I admire/thank: Anthony Marshall (Lyricist Lounge) my big brother and supporter in this industry, thanks for keeping on my toes and being so forward thinking- you are the embodiment of a creative entrepreneur and tell Mama Zee I love her too! E-Swift, you gave me the book, and I know I was supposed to give it back, but I'm still reading and learning, I guess I'll just go buy a copy. Jeff Burroughs (Rise Ent.), thanks for the insight and taking time to talk to me about my goals. dream hampton-one of my favorite writers. What an inspiration you are. Thanks for the advice. James Guss (TrueStar Ent.) thanks for listening to all my drama and trying to help me get things cracking in my career. Mar Brown (Virgin) thanks for hooking me up with the editors, hopefully you will be reading my work soon. My boss, Gerry Cagle (The Network) for showing me how the real deals are made in this industry!!! E Willis and Darnell (Shai)-even though I make fun of you guys, I hope that you really do make a comeback, and Darryl Anthony (Az Yet), so talented and sweet :) Sylvia Rhone and Julie Greenwald for proving to me that women can run shit too. Amber McLinn (Atlantic), Tiffany Hall (Atlantic) and Juan Madrid (BMG) for introducing me to this site- now I am an addict! LOL!
My personal/professional goals: To pin point what exactly it is I wanna do in the music industry. There is too much to be involved in for me to narrow it down just yet. But I want to pursue my passion, writing. *If you are an editor looking for a new freelance music writer holla at me! I'm beginning Songwriting this week, wish me luck. Recognizing the good people that come into my life and being able to eliminate the bad, no matter how hard it may seem! Overall balance and happiness in life, finding myself and what makes me excited to get up in the morning. And, overall, being able to help other people achieve their goals by utilizing my connects and offering advice, like those who have helped me thus far. Finding a good man in Los Angeles who is about something, really single and looking for a relationship (I know this one may never happen) and helping thecrusade.net become as powerful and respected in LA as it is in NY!!!

I should have read yours before I did mine... But it looks like you are already on the path keep it poppin. you should read that book think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill it will help you narrow your focus for real. -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: INGA International EMAIL: inga@ingainternational.com URL: http://www.INGAInternational.com DATE: 01/18/2003 7:16:00 PM I happen to know these two black Directors you mentioned. They both have girlfriends so stop lusting. If you took them home to DAD he wouldn't approve, would he? Admire GOD instead of these men. Don't feed the flesh, feed the spirit, and get to know God while you're at it. God bless... -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: Ashley Teitel EMAIL: URL: DATE: 01/21/2003 4:01:00 PM Inga- Your comment really threw me off. If you don't have anytthing constructive to say then why would you even bother posting. You have no idea what my father would approve of 1st of all and second of all, I happen to know those directors too. I'm not "lusting" but rather giving credit where credit is due. If you claim to be so into God then perhaps you need to look within yourself to find out why you have chose to lash out on me, considering I never did anything to hurt you. And to all the other people who have posted about my race-- please know that I am very aware of who I am and where I come from and if you are still so concerned about it than you really need to get a life! -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: Inga EMAIL: URL: DATE: 01/21/2003 10:48:00 PM Ashley, I am so sorry for the wrongful comment. It wasn't I that left it. My friend was being childish and left that comment using my name and web site info. This is my 3rd visit to the Crusade, and I have no idea what's going on. Please understand that I would never lash out on anyone, especially people I do not know. As far as the Directors are concerned, you're entitled to admire whom you choose. Love is colorblind. Once again, please excuse the comment it was all innocent. Thanks, Inga -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: NYMagWrita EMAIL: URL: DATE: 01/25/2003 7:40:00 PM Keep doin what you doing, I like your write up. Those two last comments are funny, who ever you are. That website link is nice by the way. Peace out! -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: van EMAIL: becontinue2002@yahoo.com URL: DATE: 08/11/2003 12:28:00 AM I am feeling benny boom! I think he is hot! Girl do your thing! -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: Phillip EMAIL: pjboykin@hotmal.com URL: DATE: 12/08/2003 2:21:00 PM If you look closely in the new Alicia Keys video, the woman sitting next to Mos Def is reading "Think and Grow Rich". I've read the book 3 times......excellent, timeless book. AT, wow@you! -----COMMENT: AUTHOR: Damion EMAIL: evol_wun@hotmail.com URL: DATE: 12/30/2003 5:31:00 PM I wonder if Ashley is still alive? I've jus read all the interesting things that people had to say and damn it, it made me laugh!!! Hopefully you could hit me back. Love ya, Dee -----
