Soul Brother Photographer I-Candy NYC
Music: Bob Marley gets constant play, especially Kaya. I love compilations like Red Star. Great cool out vibe. I'm also diggin Musiq. For the current hits, I listen to the radio. My all time favorites are Bill Withers, and original heavy hitters James Brown, Marvin Gaye DJs: Ken Sport for his OG breaks mix tape, Green Lantern's nice mix on Hot 97 once helped on a long drive home after a grueling photography session. Everyone else is good but they all sound the same to me, no signature sound Magazines: Not really a big magazine person. I usually just look at the photos and check if I've got anything placed in the book. I disregard the editorial content and focus on the book's visual messages Movies: Most people jumped on the Usual Suspects bandwagon when it came out on video but I recognized its brilliance during the poorly attended theatrical run. My other favorites are True Lies, The Harder They Come (about the stuggles in the music industry from a Jamaican perspective), The Last of the Mohicans , and Frequency (good but unbelievable story) Future plans: Direct movies and videos, publish a poetry book, just continue channeling my artistic energy TV: "Law & Order" (new, old, SVU). If I'm home, I'm tuned into "L&O." "Seinfield" reminds me of my friends. I'm also a Trekkie and love all the Star Trek spin-offs. "Crank Yankers" is hilarious! Plain and simple, I'm a TV watcher. I check MTV and BET to keep me informed of the latest celebrities and I watch NY1 for its NYC coverage Shoes: I'm a die-hard Chuck Taylor guy. Fo life. I also rock Clarkes and Fox Troopers Gear: I'm a jeans and t-shirt type. I love my jeans. No matter how raggedy my jeans get, I never want to give them up. I can do slacks on occasion but prefer being low key. I also rock my Soul Brother t-shirts. I'm always rocking one wherever I go! Leisure Activities: Dominos, shooting pool, basically stuff that's removed from my day to day grind. I purposely stay home Fridays and Saturdays since I'm always out and recently gave up video games. Too time consuming Photography style: Ill and unique. I sometimes feel like Cool V in Biz Markie's "Vapors" video when he gets shut down at the record store. I'm just bidding my time until everyone finally catches on. Restaurants: Since I don't do dairy, red meat or pork, I go to Zen Palette (great tofu place), Vegi Diner, Teriyaki Boy, and Mr. Spice (Thai place). I also like Indian, West Indian, and some Mexican Stores: Not a shopper. Being an ex-designers (Soul Brother Clothing), I got tons of clothes Colors: I'm a color chameleon. I love them all. They add spice to a setting. But black is the top choice cause it matches with everything
You can catch Soul Brother's work regularly in The Source, Vibe, and Trace
