Word To Herbert
Oy vey it’s hot. It’s so hot. Thank God for air conditioning. I mean, it’s really really hot. I remember in the 8th grade, I did this science experiment where I tried to see if it was hot enough to really cook an egg outside sans flame. I put together this tin foil metallic contraption, went out to my friend’s house in the woods, and laid it down and cracked open an egg on it and came back later to see what happened.
Nothing happened. I got a “D” for the project. But I bet you that if I did that very same experiment today, right now, in the middle of Fulton Street, I could cook an egg. I might run into some technical difficulties hosting the experiment in that particular location (a hungry crackhead might try and eat it), but I bet it’d work. And I said “particular” this time like Tavis Smiley on PBS.
“Par-tick-uh-lahr.”
But oy vey it’s hot. Driving down Navy Road towards the bridge, I noticed that big ol’ pool. It looked VERY nice, but I’m scared of public pools. All those little kids urinating and excreting kid juices in there. You could catch a bad case of diarrhea from one of them pools. I know it. I remember the pool at my local JCC. All these little kids. And you know little kids. They don’t wipe well, they’re always throwing up, clearing their snot and all that stuff. No thanks. I’ll get my own.
Not that I could get my own, really. Unless it was one of those little kiddie pools. That might not be so bad. Fill it with ice, some water. I’d have to get goggles and arm flotation devices just to feel, you know, comfortable. Like I belong. Maybe have wifey bring me out some peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches with the crusts cut off, cut into 2 triangles and a Capri Sun. You know what? I’ll take some photos and send them out to everyone with the heading “Missing You,” because I’M DOWN THE JERSEY SHORE RIGHT NOW CHILLIN’ ON THE BEACH!!!
Don’t hate.
I deserved a little vacation. I’ve been working my butt off, trying to find the right venues to bring everyone the best events you can imagine. Freedom is the sh*t (500 people last week), but now I got a Saturday party that REALLY makes a nice addition to my roster. I’m at Club T-NY, a.ka. Club Temple, Temple New York, and I’m telling you the energy is incredible. We almost brought 1000 people down this past week, and not the same people you always get. I’m talking White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, all out to party and have a blast. Think Blvd Saturdays times ten in party energy. And I hit them off nicely with joints. I’m very very excited about it, it has great legs, and I think we’ll all have a great new hip-hop/r&b/reggae weekend home for the next year to come.
Now … what the heck is all this about “Chicken Soup?” I don’t get it? “Chicken Soup, Chicken Soup.” Sh*t!!!! I’m Jewish. If I knew that people were gonna start making a big deal about a song re: chicken soup, I would’ve done it myself. Dang. And I would’ve remixed it a bunch of times and made even more money. “Matzah Ball Soup,” the remix, or “Borscht,” the remix part 2, “Corned Beef Sandwich,” the mash-up, blending the acapella of Corned Beef Sandwich with the beats from the hit “Stuffed Cabbage,” and then finally, my favorite, the “Brisket” re-edit. No. Seriously, though. What is that about? Is this guy talking about what he orders at the Chinese food spot? Chicken soup and a soda? What the heck?
Whatever. It’s too hot to think about soup anyways. At times like these, I wish I wasn’t chunky and hairy. I wish I wasn’t Eastern European. At times like these, I wish my parents had been Bedouins.
Last but not least, a couple videos to make you laugh. I wish one of these links took you too the Cassy video, cuz that stuff is hilarious. They shot it in a dance studio, and she’s got on all the Flashdance knee-pads and tights and all that, so you think “okay, we gonna get into now,” and then the music starts, and … then … well … wait … what the heck is she doing? She’s not really dancing at all. She does the slutty stripper thing that every girl out there is trying to do and thinks it’s dancing. You know, drop to the floor, suck on your finger, crawl around, gyrate, kind of like the “dancers” at Club Show. (Whatever happened to dope dancers like the ones at Cheetah way back when?) And then she moves to the other side of the “dance” studio, and you think, “okay, okay, let’s give the girl a chance,” and then … er … no … same slutty stripper dance in the other corner. And then we cut right to her pouring water all over herself.
“Cut! Great work, Cassy. Great. That was perfect. Let’s do it again, this time, if you can, hump the ground to the beat of your song. You know. Don’t just hump, but, well, hump to the beat. Hump with purpose. Hump like you mean it.”
