What’s your 9-5? What’s your 5-9?

My 9-5 is a Trainer/Talent Development in Corporate America. My 5-9 is a publicist.

When did you start? How did you get your start?

I started during my sophomore year in college. I took a summer internship at SoSoDef, and then I was co-social chair at Spelman which meant I planned homecoming, and other big events throughout the year. I then interned at Hot 107.9 for CoCo Brother until he found a full-time intern. After that, I got an internship at Allied Advertisement as a college intern/rep for Universal Pictures.

Why choose this particular career/industry?

My experiences I have had in this field made me love it. It fits my personality and it fits my characteristics.

Is/was education important in achieving your goals?

YES, at first while in college I thought I would be an entertainment lawyer so education played a major role in my life.

What are some of your weaknesses and strengths?

My weakness is my kindness… too nice and way too forgiving. My strengths are my will to move on and to persevere.

What qualities are needed to survive in your career? In your industry?

Tough skin, a good sense of humor and loving friends and family. Moreover you need balls!

What makes you unique?

My approach, my vision, and my love for the industry.

What advice do you have for those interested in your career? In your industry?

Intern, Intern, and Intern. Build genuine friendships and live your dream. If you want to be a publicist then act and say you are.

Words to live by? Motto?

Live each day like it is your last. Grow from all you experiences good and bad. Follow your heart don’t let nothing or no one stop you…. God has a plan for you!
